Teaching our children to be part of the solution!

The goal of Big Lessons for Little People is to create teachable moments and make children and families part of the greater good. Through these programs, we hope to spark a lifelong commitment to helping others.

Our three flagship Big Lessons for Little People programs are:

Milk and Bookies

Milk and Bookies™ is a non-profit organization that exposes young children to how great it feels to give back while celebrating the love of a good book. We bring in authors for live book readings, or theater performances of popular children’s books for children and their families to enjoy.

As part of this program, we ask for all the students to help spread the love of reading to those who can’t afford books of their own by bringing a new or gently-used book to be donated.

Students “raise dough” to help feed the hungry during this annual school-wide bake sale. The students bake the goodies in their classrooms, and then invite their friends and family – as well as the community – to the bake sale to sell their delicious treats for a great cause. Organizations who have benefited from this program include Family Promise and No Kid Hungry.

Heroes for Heroes

A day full of giving, patriotism and love when local heroes – active and retired – come to the school and help our students assemble comfort packages for servicemen and women who are stationed overseas.
